It is with profound sadness that Kathy McCallum and her sons announce the passing of James (Ric) McCallum on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 following a hard fought battle with cancer. He was born October 9, 1955 in Montreal, Quebec Canada to James Leonard and Mary Margaret (Murphy) McCallum.
Ric was a devoted family man, with an easy spirit that made him a trusted friend to so many. He enjoyed cars, guitars, boats and BBQ’s. He was committed to the music ministry as musician playing bass guitar at Sunday Masses at St. Ann Catholic Church in Coppell for over 15 years. He also volunteered for the Coppell High School Band for 8 years as a chaperone and instrument truck driver for games and contests. Printing was his work passion and he was a brilliant trouble shooter, print expert, electrical technician and printing press operating instructor. He started his own business as an independent contractor in 2009. Many of his customers considered him, not only a top notch technician, but also a friend. He traveled the world for both work and pleasure. He was always game for new adventures. Although he was not blessed with grandchildren yet, he loved babies and children, soon becoming “Mr. Ric” to many. WE loved his laugh, his quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. We will miss him terribly.
Ric is preceded in death by his father, James L. McCallum. He is survived by his mother, Mary Murphy McCallum; sister, Christine Harris and her husband Larry and their daughter Tammy and her husband Tom; brothers, Bill McCallum, Glen McCallum and his wife Brigit and their children, Joey, James, Matthew and Tiffany; Donnie McCallum and his wife Tina and their children, Owen, Evan and Braeden; Sean McCallum all of Chateauguay, Quebec, Canada; wife, Kathy McCallum of Coppell, Texas; sons, Ross McCallum and his wife Amy of Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, Warren McCallum of Coppell, Texas and numerous cousins in Canada and the United States.
