He was born on April 3, 1946, in San Francisco, California, and grew up in East Dallas. He attended Woodrow Wilson High School, after which he proudly served his country in the United States Navy.
Following his military service, Michael began a long and successful career with IBM, for 32 years. It was there that he met his beloved wife, Patricia.
Mike was a devoted and fun-loving father to his three children, Robin, Mike Jr., and Randy.
After retiring from IBM as a Technical Solutions Manager, Michael continued to share his skills through various programming roles before later driving school buses for Dallas County and the City of Coppell.
Known as a jack of all trades, Michael approached everything he did with curiosity and craftsmanship. His many interests included wood working, photography, creating elaborate Christmas and Halloween light displays, pottery, painting, working puzzles, riding motorcycles, and playing the ukulele. He especially enjoyed attending concerts and was a devoted fan of The Beach Boys.
Michael lived a life of service. A faithful member of First United Methodist Church of Coppell, he volunteered extensively through UMCOR disaster relief, drove the church bus, served and led in the Stephen Ministry, played handbells, and participated mission trips to Costa Rica, Louisiana and El Paso. Beyond the church, Michael volunteered with the City of Coppell as an Arts Center usher and served on the Planning and Zoning Committee, always looking for ways to give back to his community.
He was predeceased by his brother Dale Ridgley and parents, Mildred and Allen Ridgley.
He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Patricia Ridgley; his children, Robin Woolridge (Chris), Michael Ridgley, Jr. (Lisa), and Randy Ridgley (Christie); brother-in-laws John (Amy) and David Sprunck, seven grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Michael will be remembered for his generous spirit, steady presence, and servant’s heart. His life touched many, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be held at 10AM on Saturday, March 21, 2026, First United Methodist Church, Coppell, TX. Interment will take place at the Dallas–Fort Worth National Cemetery on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at 10:30 AM.
