

Mrs. McDaniel died June 5, 2013, at a Killeen hospital. She was born Jan. 26, 1938, the oldest of 10 children, to Sidney and Abbie Combs Everage, in Knott County, Ky. She was reared and educated in that area of Southeast Kentucky.
She met James McDaniel and they were married Nov. 19, 1961, in Richmond, Ind. They had two sons, Scott and James.
She traveled to different parts of the world and lived in many states with her husband, who was a career soldier.
The couple settled in Copperas Cove in 1972. In 1974, she began working at the Old Wooden Commissary at Fort Hood. She worked for 20 years before retiring to be a full-time housewife in 1994. She enjoyed her flowers, she loved the friends she had and adored her grandchildren. She was always with her two pet dogs, who were often referred to as the “Boys,” Ernie and LiL Mac.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Ann; and a brother, Chester.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, James; two sons, Scott of Copperas Cove and James of San Antonio; a granddaughter, Veronica of San Francisco, Calif.; four grandsons, Rick of San Francisco, James, Garrett and Ben, all of San Antonio; brothers, Merle, Billy, Jackie, Ronnie, Richard, Coy and Don, all of Kentucky, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Second Chance Animal Shelter in Killeen.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove, which is in charge of arrangements.
