Guy Leon Lantrip, of Copperas Cove, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at Metroplex Hospital in Killeen. His memorial services will be 9 a.m., Wednesday, September 16, at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove. He will be laid to rest at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen 11 a.m., with full military honors.
Leon was born June 2, 1934, in Como, Mississippi, to James and Lillie Lantrip. Leon was one of 11 children. He was in the United States Army and retired after 20 years. He continued to serve his country for 22 years at the Department of Public Works, Fort Hood, Texas. He was a dedicated and loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents; nine brothers and sisters; and several aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his wife, Waltrud M. Lantrip; son, Ricky G. Lantrip; daughter, Monika H. Wheeless; several grandchildren; his sister Mary Evelynn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
