Harry was born to Harry Oran Woods and Dorothy B. Irvin on March 20, 1937, in Bourbon, MO. He grew up in Sullivan, MO. He went on to join the Army and met his future wife while stationed at Ft. Polk, LA. On June 7, 1958, he married Mary Lois Thibodeaux. Together they and their four children traveled the world from one duty station to the next.
He did several tours in Vietnam and overseas. He dedicated over 27 years of his life to the service of his country. He loved to tinker and rebuild Volkswagen engines in his spare time. He was a doting grandfather who built and bought various dune buggies, go carts, and minibikes for his grandchildren. He was highly active in several local AA groups and loved helping people struggling for sobriety. He loved his family, his God, and his country.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mary “Lois” Woods, and his daughter Julie Woods.
He is survived by daughter Latesia Ganos, son Jeffrey Woods and wife Sharon, and son Jody Woods. He is also survived by grandchildren Michael Woods, Sarah Walters, Cody Woods, Brendan O’Dwyer, Jeffrey Woods, Holly Woods, Ayla O’Dwyer and several great grandchildren.
Memorial Service will be on April 30, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove. Burial with Full Military Honors will also be on April 30, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the Central Texas Veterans Cemetery.
