

Roy was born October 17, 1934 to Leonel Martell and Eulah ( Noakes) Martell in Kankakee, Illinois.
He married the love of his life Jacqueline Jones on June 25, 1955 in Kankakee, Illinois. The two of them spent many wonderful years together as Roy served in the United States Army.
While serving he was in Vietnam, Korea and Germany. He received the Vietnam Service Medal with Silver Service Star and one Bronze Service Star, the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal Clasp, Bronze five Loops, the Army Commendation Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. SFC Roy L. Martell retired from the United States Army October 31, 1979.
He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Copperas Cove and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Roy is survived by his wife Jacqueline Martell of Kempner; a daughter, Donna Reavis and her husband Ronnie of Lampasas; four grandchildren, Jason Martell and his wife Laura of Lampasas, Brandi Frazier and her husband Michael of Tennessee, Charles Richey and his wife Heather of Lampasas and Donnie Richey of Lampasas; eight great grandchildren, Lane Frazier, Nikolas Martell, Mia Martell, Keira Martell, Taylor Martell Krystal Richey, Jade Richey, Madisyn Kerby and another on the way and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Martell family will receive guests for a time of visitation from 6-8 p.m. Monday, January 17, 2011 at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Jim Robertson as Celebrant. Interment services will follow in the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen with full military honors.
Serving as pallbearers at the church will be Donnie Richey, Charles Richey, Jason Martell and Michael Kerby.
