

Thomas Francis Krak, Jr., 70, of Kempner passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2014 in Kempner. Services for Mr. Krak will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at 7:00 PM at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove with father Chris Downey officiating. An inurnement ceremony will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas.
Thomas was born on August 9,1944 in Chicago, Illinois to Thomas Sr. and Mildred Czechowski Krak. He was raised in Illinois and enlisted in the Army in 1963 in Chicago. He married Elke Flakowski on September 10, 1965 in Floursheim, Germany and they were again married a few days later on October 30, 1965 in Germany. After leaving the Army, Mr. Krak worked for Procter and Gamble as a pipe fitter/welder in the Chicago area. He later started his own iron working business, Woodstock Ornamental Werks, and owned and operated the business before moving to Texas in 2007. After retirement, he again started a business, Tom Kay’s Clocks in Kempner creating hand-crafted polished steel clocks. He loved reading, his hot rods,riding his motorcycles, but was most proud of his 23 years of sobriety.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife in 2012. Mr. Krak is survived by his daughter Natalie and her husband Samuel, daughter Rochell Krak, his sister Carol Krak-Ventrella and her husband Gerry, grandchildren Nicole Johnson, and Tabatha Johnson and her fiancé Jon Merrill, and a great-grandchild, Wyatt Merrill.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:oo to 7:00 PM on Wednesday September 24, 2014 at the funeral home.
Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove is in charge of the arrangements.
