

Mr. Winger served as an Enlisted Nurse in the US Army Active and Reserve, retiring in 1993. Throughout his distinguished service, he provided care to combat wounded and veterans from both the Viet Nam conflict and Desert Storm, serving as a floor nurse and Chief Ward Master.
Following his military career, Mr. Winger enjoyed a long tenure with the US Treasury Department, conducting audits as part of the Internal Revenue Service. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Houston and was recognized as a Certified Public Accountant and an Enrolled Agent, distinctions he maintained for decades. Upon his retirement from the IRS, Mr. Winger established an accounting practice, serving clients across the United States.
A dedicated musician, Mr. Winger performed with several symphonies in the Houston, Texas area, frequently supporting charitable causes and holiday events. An accomplished trombonist, he received a scholarship from the University of Arizona. Committed to music education, he regularly volunteered as a private tutor for middle and high school students in brass instruments.
Mr. Winger’s commitment to family was matched only by his dedication to community service. He offered thoughtful guidance, acted as a stabilizing presence during challenging times, and inspired those around him with his generosity and sense of humor. His ability to connect with others left a lasting impact on friends, family, and acquaintances alike.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Louise Winger; his son Glenn Aldrich and wife Lucy, along with their sons Kyle and Ryan, all of Central Texas; and his stepson Bob Aldrich of San Antonio and his daughter Noya. He was predeceased by his father "Buck" Winger, mother June Krotzer, and his son Mark.
