Dixie McRae Walden passed away June 18 at Magnolia Regional Health Center. She was born September 16, 1937 in Corinth, MS., to the late Dr. Maury and Mabel McRae. She was a graduate of Corinth High School and the University of Mississippi where she was a member of Kappa Delta sorority. Dixie had served as office manager at the medical clinic of her father, Dr. Maury McRae, founder of the McRae Hospital in Corinth, before she began her career as an elementary school teacher. She touched the lives of numerous children at Cruise Street Elementary and East Corinth Elementary in Corinth and at Southside Elementary in Hardin County, Tennessee. She was an avid dog lover and anything Ole Miss.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mabel and Dr. Maury McRae.
She is survived by her son, Richard “Buck” Walden and daughter Mauri Mills.
