

Funeral Service to celebrate the life of Emma Lee Smith Newcomb of Corinth will be held at 2pm Saturday September 14,2024 at Memorial Funeral Home with burial to follow in Henry Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 12pm until funeral time at the funeral home.
Mrs. Newcomb passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at Magnolia Regional Health Center. She was born in McNairy County on October 13, 1935 to the late Horace and Celia Farris. She was a homemaker and mother of four. She was a member of First Baptist Church. In 1970 she opened the Candle Room Florist on Highway 72 and had it for many years. She worked in the home furnishing department in the old Belk store downtown. In the late 80's she opened Happy Times Daycare on Polk St. which she had until she retired. She was a long time commissioner for the Corinth Housing Authority.
In addition to her parents Emma was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Smith; second husband, James Newcomb; sons, Scotty Smith and Stan Smith; and sisters, Geneva Wegman, Jean Whitehurst and Earline Maples.
She is survived by her daughter, Patti Potts of Corinth; son, Billy Smith of Nashville; grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brother, Bobby Farris (Betty) of Pickwick; extended family, Becky and Dave Shanklin and Ricky and Mary Newcomb and all of their families.
Honorary Pallbearers include Cadie Potts, Dylan Potts, Nathan Smith, Israel Beachy, Phillip Lambert, and Andrew Carruth.
Brother Dennis Smith will officiate the services.
