Ruth so sorry to hear about Ward  ijust found out about it a little while back. I lost Leonard the 17th of May this year 2012.so i know your pain your in my heart an prayer may God keep his hands on you Faye sweat

On behalf of both my family and myself, I wish to extend my condolences to the entire Byrd family upon the passing of a beloved husband, a loving father, and an attentive grandfather.  Ward Byrd, known to me as Uncle Junior, will be missed by all of us.

Uncle Junior was first and foremost a very good and decent man.  An educator by profession, he mentored many students at both the high school and the community college level.   He was a loving husband to my Aunt Ruth, a dedicated father to his three children; Larry, Sydney, and Rhonda, and he was a doting grandfather to their children.  All three of his children chose professions that serve the needs of others.  I do not see that as a mere coincidence.
 
A very hard working man, Uncle Junior earned a graduate degree in his profession while working full time.  He also ran a farm operation and was active in his community.  I remember how he used to greet my wife and my daughters when we would visit.  His energy was infectious.  By both his life and his labors, he impacted so many and planted so many seeds to a future harvest.   His life spanned the great depression, the second world war, the great society, and the dawn of a new millennium.   A member of the greatest generation, in my opinion he was one of its hardest working members.

I will not be able to see QWERTY and not think of him.   “Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country…..” is a phrase that as a youngster I typed over and over again.  He left a typewriter, with a teaching guide, and the key covers, so that I could teach myself typing.   In part, he taught to me a great lesson, yes,  typing, but it really was how to teach myself a skill.  That was priceless.

Tennessee has lost one of its sons.  I thought so highly of him.  I respected his willingness to contribute to his community.  I admired his commitment to better himself.  He was an example to me on how to best maximize his time and to prosper the opportunities available to him. His life served as an example to me, and perhaps to others, of a mortal life very well spent.  I thank him. Godspeed  to you, Uncle Junior.

So sorry Ruth and son's he was one of the best that i ever knew

Aunt Ruth, Sydney, Larry and Rhonda, Although I did not know him well, I have often heard great stories from Allen. I know you will miss him, but know he is with our Savior and you will see him again. My prayers are with your family in this difficult time.

Mr. Byrd was my typing teacher for four years of high school.  He was always happy and smiling and a very good teacher. He will be missed.

Larry, Sherry, Rhonda, Sydney and Ms Ruth - I am very sorry to hear about the loss of your Father and Husband.   He is at peace now and out of his pain and suffering.  It is hard to give them up, but know that he is an angel watching over you.  May God continue to watch over you all during and after this time of sorrow.  Libby Jones
