Hugh "Hughbuck" Mitchell

Funeral services for Hugh “Hughbuck” Mitchell, 71, will be held today at 4:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Ronnie Mitchell officiating and Dr. Brian Mitchell offering the Eulogy. Burial will follow in the Cumberland Shiloh Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time at 4:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home.

Hugh passed away peacefully on September 9, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family at his side. He was born in Alcorn Co on June 4, 1945 to the late Woodrow and Polly Burns Mitchell. He was a member of Tishomingo Chapel Baptist Church. He was a farmer and builder before his retirement. Hugh enjoyed coon hunting, NASCAR, watching the Gaither’s homecoming on Saturday nights but most of all spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, W.G. “Cooter” Mitchell and a great-granddaughter, Ashton Wyse.

Hugh is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Peggy Mitchell; son, Keith Mitchell (Cynthia); daughters, Sharon Barnes (Tim) and Deborah Wyse (Skip); brother, Dr. Ronnie Mitchell (Nelda); sisters, Sarah Rider (Billy) and Patsy Gifford (John); mother-in-law, Johnnie Mae Talley; grandchildren, Dr. Brian Mitchel (Kathleen), Blaine Barnes, Taylor Barnes (Kelsey Tw eedle), Mallory Rickman (Michael), Jami Spencer (Jason), Jazz Wyse, and James Wyse; great-grandchildren, Brennan Tyler Rickman, Cali Rickman, Dale Rickman, Avery Parvin, Sadie Spencer, Taylor Spencer, Jackson Wyse and a host of other dear family and friends.

Pallbearers will be John Gifford, Jason Gifford, Wade Rider, Woody Rider, Todd Mitchell, and Eric Talley.

Honorary pallbearers are randy Lancaster, Jim Wilbanks, Jerry Gifford, Jimmy Hancock, and Terry Waldon.
