Celebration of Life services for James "Jim" Thurman Teague, 91, will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Chewalla Baptist Church with Bro. Richard Doyle officiating. Burial will follow in Indian Creek Cemetery.
Jim went to be with the Lord on Tuesday July 19, 2016. He was born May 4, 1925 in McNairy Co as the third son of George Omar and Viola Smith Teague. Jim was a man of strong faith. He was a member of Chewalla Baptist Church and attended Flat Creek Baptist Church while living in Fayetteville, GA. He was employed with South Central Bell and AT&T for 34 years before retiring as Plant Manager in 1983. He served in WWII, American Theater, as a Sergeant in the United States Air Force. He also served as Vice Commander for American Legion Post 162 of Selmer.
Jim had a passion for hunting and fishing and never passed up an opportunity to do either. One of his greatest joys was to take his grandchildren hunting with him. he loved to work with his hands and could fix almost anything. He and his wife Kat have raised a garden ever since they were married and continue to do so today. One of his favorite things to say was "I can feed you for a day or teach you to fish and feed you for life", he meant it literally and figuratively. Jim's love of the outdoors was only surpassed by his love for God and his family. He will be missed greatly as he is greatly loved.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brothers, Kelcie Lee and Willie Raymond and his sisters, Dorothy Jeffries and Margie Riley.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Katherine Teague; children, James Scott (Pat) of Greenville, MS; Cindy Teague Vincent (Brett) of Fayetteville, GA, and Ginger Teague Griffin (Bill) of Roland, AR; five grandchildren, Bronson Teague, William and Cooper Griffin, Hadley and Morgan Smith; great-grandchild, Ava Scott Teague and a sister, Martha Davis, of Covington, TN.
