

Jimmy Ray Hathcock, 87, of Corinth passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2024 at Region One Methodist Hospital in Memphis, TN.
Jimmy Ray or "Diamond Jim" was born in Corinth, MS on September 26, 1936 to the late Odell and Ella King Hathcock. He graduated from Corinth High School in 1956. He then attended Bradley University before being drafted into the United States Army. Jimmy Ray was a 32nd degree Mason, the owner of Jimmy's Jewelry and one of the founding fathers to the annual Slugburger Festival in downtown Corinth. He served several terms as the Alderman of the 5th Ward. He was also a manager of Thurston's Nightclub. Jimmy Ray and enjoyed spending time with friends and family.
Jimmy Ray was preceded into death by his parents; his wife, Betty Rinehart Hathcock; two children, Randy and Christie Hathcock; a brother, W.O. Hathcock; and two sisters, Helen Forrest and Marie Bell.
He is survived by two step-children, David and Rebecca Lynn Martin; a brother, Johnny Hathcock; two sisters, Ann Lewis and Becky Nelson; three grandchildren, Tiffany Kennedy (David), Taylor Hathcock and Tanner Hathcock (Katie); and five great-grandchildren, Cort Sellers, Bella Sellers, Madison "Maddie" Rae Downs, Maisyn "Maisy" Kennedy Hathcock, and Hayes Allen Hathcock.
There is a Celebration Of Life scheduled for Tuesday, January 23,2024 at McPeters Funeral Directors beginning at one o'clock in the afternoon with Rev. Jeff Haney and Rev. Danny Forrest officiating. The family will accept friends Monday, January 22, 2024 beginning at five o'clock in the afternoon until eight o'clock in the evening as well as for noon until service time on Tuesday.
