

Dr. Larry Lee Mangus, 84, of Johnstown, OH, formerly of Corinth, passed away on November 23, 2025. He was born on March 7, 1941, in Canton, OH to the late Donald and Anna Mangus.
In 1964, Larry married Marilyn Louise Langer. He spent his adult life working in academia; holding positions at Virginia Tech University, Indiana University, University of New Mexico, Bemidji State University, Radford University, Maryville College, University of Maine at Presque Isle, Ohio Wesleyan University, Rose State College, Bluefield State University, and Shawnee State University.
Upon retiring, Larry spent most of his remaining years in Corinth, was an active member in the First Presbyterian Church, the William P. Rogers Camp of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and serving on boards of the Verandah-Curlee House and the Crossroads Museum. He was also the cross-country coach of Corinth High School, winning multiple state championships.
Larry is survived by his sons, David (Beth) and Michael (Amy); grandchildren, Brian (David), Kathryn (David), Isabel (Michael), and Eleanor (Michael); sisters, Peggy Hixenbaugh, Cindee Volpe, and Bonnie Kleve.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents; wife of fifty-nine years, Marilyn; sister, Shelley Musser and two-brothers, Danny and Timmy Mangus.
Visitation will occur on December 17, 2025, from 5pm to 7pm at the Memorial Funeral Home . Funeral Services will be at 9am on December 18, 2025, at the First Presbyterian Church. Internment will occur at Henry Cemetery following the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the First Presbyterian Church’s Missions or Youth Funds or to the Verandah-Curlee House.
