Norman departed this life on May 28, 2025 at Magnolia Regional Health Center. He was a member of East Corinth Baptist Church for thirty five years and served in many capacities along with being a Deacon until the time of his death. He attended Kossuth High School and Northeast Mississippi Community College. Norman then served in the United States Navy working in air traffic control and special operations. Following his military career, Norman went into industry with the Wurlitzer Company. From there, he went on to serve as a manager for Triangle Pacific and Bruce Hardware Flooring. He finished his career in industry with the Quartet Company, where he designed and managed the woodworking division. In recent years, he worked as a consultant with his brother-in-law, Floyd Austin and nephews Mark Austin and Marty Austin.
When not at work, you could find Norman outdoors. Whether working in his yard or tending to his garden, nothing pleased him more than providing his home-grown vegetables to his family and friends. He also frequently enjoyed hunting trips, camping and fishing with his son, grandkids, nephews and friends. His family was his true pride and joy. He found his greatest happiness when his grandchildren were at “Pop Pop and JJ’s” house helping him grow new things in the garden, grilling a big meal, and discovering all different species of wildlife. Norman was a man of tremendous work ethic, determination and resilience. He was devout in his faith to the Lord and his family. Above all, he was the embodiment of strength.
Norman is survived by his wife of sixty two years, Johnnye Holley Borden; children, Vonda Borden of Jackson, TN; son, Chad Borden (Amanda) of Corinth, MS; grandchildren, Holley Ann, Hannah, Lucas and Edge Borden; siblings, Joyce Tapp, Linda Crum, Nadine Leatherwood (Almous), Wanda Hodum (Gary), and Bobby Borden (Barbara); sister-in-law, Jean Bell (Eddy); and brother-in-law, Floyd Austin.

Holley; sisters, Imogene Floyd (Leroy) and Violia Floyd; brothers, Ezra Borden (Frances) and Jerry Borden; sister-in-law’s, Mae Odle (Reverend Charles Odle), Alice Keith (J.Y.), Mary Jones, Judy Austin, and Barbara Switcher (Sammie); and brothers-in-law Charles Holley and Hershell Holley (Katherine).
