

A service to celebrate the life of Ollie May Shipman, 96, will be held Sunday at 2:00 pm at Memorial Funeral Home with burial to follow in Pleasant Hill Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm until service time. Rev. Mark Nail will officiate the services.
Ms. Shipman passed away on January 16, 2024 at Magnolia Regional Health Center. She was born in Hardin County, TN on October 17, 1928 to the late William McKinley and Jo Vera Milender Shipman. She was a graduate of Kossuth High School and a longtime member of Pleasant Hill Methodist Church. She worked for over 40 years as a dental assistant for Dr. Fayette Williams and Dr. Bob Lorentz. Though she never married or had children of her own, she was “Aunt May” to four generations of nieces & nephews, whose pictures adorned every available space in her home. She survived cancer and COVID. Her home was always filled with family, food, love and laughter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Peggy Jo Shipman, Earlene Cook, Betty Sue Gant and Mary Ann Baldwin; and a brother, Emory Shipman.
She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Whitehurst; brothers, Marcus Shipman (Nyla) and Jerry Shipman (Marie); special niece and caregiver, Wanda Newcomb; nieces & nephews, Sheri Kohler, Patti Whitehurst, Debbie King, Sharon Counce, Serita Redding, Mike Shipman, Melba Lewis, Steve Gant, Tony Baldwin, Ricky Baldwin, Tracy Shipman, Angela Shipman, and Ritchie Shipman; a host of great-nieces & nephews, great-great-nieces & nephews, great-great-great nieces & nephews; and family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Ollie May Shipman to the Pleasant Hill Methodist Church.
