Mr. Sloan died Sunday night at Magnolia Regional Health Center. He was born on July 11,1940 to the late Edgar William and Emily Barnes in Alabama. He was a member of the First Church of The Lord Jesus Christ and a retired Brick Mason.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a step-son, Keith Mitchell; one grandson, Shawn Sims; and a brother, Sherman Sloan.
Survivors include his wife, Rachel Sloan, Corinth; two sons, Lenny Sloan and wife Dana of Alabama and Danny Sloan of Corinth; two daughters, Donna Lyons and husband Delbert of Pontotoc and Bonnie Glisson, Walnut; four stepsons, Jody Mitchell and wife Wanda of Rienzi, Bud Mitchell and wife Bonnie of Corinth, Lamar Mitchell and wife Annette of Corinth, and Johnny Mitchell and wife Jolanda of Rienzi; one step-daughter: Dottie Sims and husband Mike of Corinth; a step-daughter-in-law; Talesha Mitchell of Rienzi; two sisters; Charlene Floyd of Corinth and Connie Jones and husband Ronald of Louisiana; on brother, David Sloan and wife Joan of Corinth; 22 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
