Belinda McGillivray

McGillivray, Belinda Irene (neé Whitford) ~ after more than 9 years of fighting, Belinda, the courageous “Cancer Ninja” has gained her angel wings. Sadly, on Sunday May 29, 2022 at Cornwall Hospice, at the young age of 42.

Belinda was the beloved wife of Daryl McGillivray and cherished mother of Tiffany and Jesse Whitford and stepmother of Blake McGillivray. Treasured Nana of Nova Raye. Adored sister of Nadine Corman (Tom) and doting aunt to nieces Adeline and Ivy all of Woodstock, ON.

Dear sister-in-law of Dean McGillivray (Cynthia) and Kevin McGillivray (Angela), and daughter-in-law of Lillian and Bob McGillivray. She was the dearest niece of “Mataunte” Rose and will be sorely missed by her special friends, Tanya, Heather and Carol, along with many other friends. She is predeceased by her mother Irene Dixon.

When Belinda received her cancer diagnosis, she opened up about her journey. Belinda believed she had a purpose. In her “no holds barred” style, she included the good, the bad and the ugly of dealing with cancer and medical community.

She advocated listening to your body! She asked medical staff many questions and fighting for the care, you need. Belinda will be remembered for her fighting spirit and optimistic outlook even when the deck was stacked.

Belinda also enjoyed making beautiful crafts, especially with her Cricut. She loved scouring the stores for the special items needed to create what she envisioned. When she found that perfect component, Belinda’s eyes would light up.

A Celebration of life will be held at Lahaie & Sullivan Cornwall Funeral Home - East Branch 614 First Street East Cornwall, ON (613-933-2841) on Sunday June 12, 2022 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. A private inurnment will take place.
