

ROSE, Claire Allison (Ted) – Passed away peacefully at the Cornwall Community Hospital, McConnell Site on Friday April 13, 2012. Claire Allison (Ted) Rose of Cornwall; age 89 years. Beloved husband for 67 years of Eileen (Fleming) Rose. Loved father of Nancy (Peter McGuire), Kathy Field and Ian. Cherished grandfather of Geoff, Melanie, Andrew, Richard, David, Nicole and Sarah. Ted was born in Avonmore, Ontario to Dr. W. Harold and Ruth Rose on February 25, 1923. He attended school in Potsdam, N.Y. before entering McGill University. After serving overseas with the S.D.& G’s, he completed his degree and married Eileen. He taught science and math at C.C.V.S., where he coached his beloved Raider football teams with John Metcalf. The family moved to Brockville where he was guidance councillor at B.C.I. and finally to St. Catharines where he was Vice-Principal at Grantham High School. Ted and Eileen returned to Cornwall in 1990. They have enjoyed the river view from their condo and made many good friends. Ted loved his family, his “Boys” of the C.C.V.S. Raiders, the Group of Seven and Big Band Music. Despite his health issues, he was a master raconteur and sports trivia buff and continued to enjoy life. The family is very appreciative of the care he received a the Cornwall Community Hospital and St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre. Cremation. The family will be in attendance at Lahaie and Sullivan Cornwall Funeral Homes, West Branch, 20 Seventh St. West (613-932-8482) from 12 p.m. Thursday. Funeral Service Thursday, April 19, 2012 in the Memorial Chapel at 2:00 p.m. with a reception to follow in the Reception Centre at the Funeral Home. Private interment in St. Lawrence Valley Cemetery Long Sault at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, Memorial Donations to the Cornwall Community Hospital or St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre would be appreciated by the family.
