Peacefully and surrounded by love on Saturday, November 3, 2012. George Cameron of Cornwall, age 87 years. Beloved husband of 65 years of Mona Cameron (Martin).
Adored and beloved father of Valerie Markell (John) Cornwall, ON, Iris Riviere (Wayne) Barrie, ON, Karen Quinn (Frank) Cornwall, ON, Frances Renaud (Bob) Cornwall, ON, Shannon Cameron (Martin) Cornwall, ON, Joanne Winter Cornwall, ON, Marty Cameron (Tamara), Cornwall, ON and John Cameron (Sue) Cornwall, ON. Loving grandfather of 32 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Survived by brothers Ivan (Norma), Carl (Louise), John (Sandra), Cain (Donna), Garry (Valerie) and only sister Muriel Maloney, sister-in-laws Gloria Cameron and Rita Cameron. Predeceased by his daughter Susan, grandson Matthew Renaud and by brothers James, Dwayne and Bryne. Dear son of the late Gordon and Hazel (Cain) Cameron. During his lifetime, George served 14 years as a trustee for the Ontario Separate School Board from 1954-1968; during the 6 years he served as a Director of the English Catholic School Board of Eastern Ontario, representing the eastern region. From 1968-1982 (14 years) George served as Alderman for the City of Cornwall. He and other like-minded parishioners, spearheaded the birth of Blessed Sacrament Parish in Cornwall. During its operation, he was co-owner of Cameron’s Dairy with his brother Ivan. He will always be remembered by his children for his devout love of God and love of neighbour. The golden rule was exemplified in his daily life. Resting Lahaie and Sullivan Cornwall Funeral Homes, West Branch, 20 Seventh Street West (613-932-8482) from 2 p.m. Thursday. Funeral Friday, November 9, 2012 for Mass of Christian Burial in St. Andrews Church at 11 a.m. Interment St. Andrews Parish Cemetery. The family will be in attendance Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. until time of Funeral.
