

MACPHERSON, Gerarld MacPherson – Born on January 1, 1923 in Marysville, NB. Died peacefully at the Cornwall Community Hospital on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at the age of 91 years. Loving husband of the late Yvette Rita (Brunet) MacPherson. He will be sadly missed by his children Scott, Sandra Barlow (Pat), Stephen (Chantal) and Stuart. Beloved Grandfather of Shane (Sarah), Genevieve Poirier (Donald), Karen Tremblay (Marc), Hope, Christopher, Benjamin and Lauren. Doting “Grampy Number Two” of Caroline, Magalie and Zoïque, Tristan, Jacob, Christopher, Steven and Jacob. Brother of Earl MacPherson. Predeceased by his sisters Marion Lemire (late Adelard), Ellen Warner (late Jack), Ann Ross (Floyd) and infant granddaughter Katie.
A proud member of the famous Black Watch Regiment, Gerry was a World War II veteran and a loyal supporter of the Cornwall Legion.
One of the longest surviving World War Two veterans in the Cornwall area, Gerry hid a kind and gentle heart behind a gruff facade. He loved spending time with family and friends, sports of any kind, breakfast at Moe’s, Saturday afternoons at the Legion and occasional visits to the Akwesasne Casino.
The Family wishes to thank the nurses and medical staff at the Intensive Care Centre and the Janet MacDonell Pavilion for their generous and thoughtful care during his time of need. Special thanks to CCAC care givers, Shirley, Spencer, James and long term family friends Judy and Jean.
Resting at Lahaie & Sullivan Cornwall Funeral Homes, West Branch, 20 Seventh Street West (613.932.8482) from 7 pm Tuesday. Funeral Wednesday, October 15, 2014 for Mass of Christian Burial in St. Columban’s Church, Fourth Street West, at 11:30 am. Interment St. Lawrence Valley Cemetery. The family will be in attendance from 7 to 9 pm on Tuesday and from 9 am until time of Funeral on Wednesday.
