Gregory Robert Johnston

23 febrero, 1968 – 10 abril, 2026
Obituario de Gregory Robert Johnston
EN EL CUIDADO DE

Lahaie & Sullivan Cornwall Funeral Home - West Branch

The family of Greg are saddened to announce his passing on Friday April 10th, 2026, from cancer.

Greg was born February 23rd, 1968, to Glenn Johnston and Barbara nee Wheeler while Glenn was stationed at Chilliwack base in British Columbia. Greg was predeceased by both parents and most recently by his oldest brother, Stephen (Kathryn Ross) on March 10th, 2026. Greg is survived by his daughter Emily (Chelsea Visneskie) and his son Brenan. He is also survived by his grandchildren - August, Benjamin, Brianna, and Primrose; his sister Melanie (Philip Mason); his brother Scotty; his sister Heather (Brian Billings); his nieces Paige and Raine; his nephew Kyle; as well as his aunt Marilyn (Roy Bosch).

Greg's family members would like to recognize and thank his friends Robin Harper, Richard Horner, and Debbie Rowe. When he needed them most, they were there quietly supporting him. Greg did not want a funeral or memorial. He didn't want an obituary to list his work which didn't define him. He wanted to be remembered as a loving dad and Grandpa, as a brother and friend, a builder of boats, and really bad dad jokes!

Greg lived a nomadic life, growing up while his dad was in the military. He did not follow in his father’s footsteps but continued to move around as he bought and sold homes. Greg was the master of the deal and enjoyed buying and living in Carleton Place, Ottawa, Smith Fall's, Brockville, and Montreal - always within driving distance of his kids. He finally moved in with Emily and Chelsea as he manoeuvred the later stages of his cancer.

Greg was well known for his love of being on the water. Over his lifetime he built and sold three boats. He was always happy when he managed to get his kids included in this. There were a few memorable dinghy rides down the Mississippi. He was also known for his sly one-liners and awful dad jokes. He had a love of treasure hunting and could be persuaded to go on an adventure at the drop of a hat. Greg’s biggest regret was that cancer robbed him of his chance to retire and enjoy his favourite pastimes.

Greg will be cremated as per his wishes. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lahaie & Sullivan West Branch (20 Seventh Street West, Cornwall).

Go tell someone you love them, he certainly did!
