AMELL. Hugh J. – A WWII Vet passed away peacefully at Hospice Cornwall on Thursday April 10, 2014 surrounded by his loving family at the age of 92. He leaves his loving wife of 30 years, Mildred (Waslew) Amell and by a previous marriage the late Verna (Lalonde) Amell. Dear father of Sharon Poirier (Andre), Peter Amell (Nancy) and step-father of Brad Lalonde (Carol). Sadly missed and cherished by 8 grandchildren, Catherine Keill-Gow (Gordon), Jeffery Keill (Teresa), Janis Amell-Crawley (Matthew), Dean Poirier (Michelle) and Lisa Poirier (Alain), Sherry Vandekemp (Walter), Brad Lalonde Jr. (Julie), Stacey Mae Beehler (Marc),. Predeceased by 2 granddaughters Erin and Shannon Amell. Also survived by 14 great grandchildren, Alex, Beth, Tyler, Davis, Mackenzie, Benjamin, Erika, Lauryn, Kevin, Megan, Jason, Alexa, Jake and Ryan. Dear brother of Angela Villeneuve (late Maurice), Bernadine Kavanaugh (John “Jack”), Francis Amell (Kaye) and Wilfred Amell (Paulette). Predeceased by his parents, Levi and Ethel (Dow) Amell, brothers, Lyle Amell (late Eva), Earl Amell (late Velma), Albert Amell (late Georgette) and sisters Rita Poirier (late Rene) and Ursula Lalonde (late Gregory). Friends will be received at the M. John Sullivan Funeral Home, 341 Pitt Street (across from city hall) Cornwall, on Sunday from 2 – 4pm and 7 – 9pm and on Monday from 9:30 – 10:30am. Funeral Mass Monday April 14, 2014 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church at 11am followed by cremation. Rite of Committal, Notre Dame Cemetery, at a later date. Memorial Donations to Hospice Cornwall or Heart & Stroke Foundation appreciated.
