Joe was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia, but as everyone knew, he rarely said he was from Nova Scotia. He was always very proud to say he was from Cape Breton Island!
Moved to Cornwall on 1962, and spent almost 50 years working as a welder at Domtar.
Dad always was a big sports fan, particularly baseball, attending the World Series in Boston in 1946. He took up golf in middle age, and he and his sons had many adventurous rounds together. Returned to curling later in life and was active in the Cornwall Curling Club into his mid-eighties. Dad enjoyed a game of cards anytime, but particularly at his home away from home, the Knights of Columbus.
Pre-deceased by his wife Margaret (MacNeil) in 2003. Dad often referred to his marriage as the best 53 years of his life.
Mom & Dad had 5 children, two of whom sadly pre-deceased him. Daughter Maureen in 1990 and son, Frank in 2014.
He was a wonderful father and grandfather to sons Hector (Judy) Bobcaygeon, Duncan (Karen) Brighton, and Paul (Denise) in Ottawa.
Grandchildren Jason, James, Joseph, Kate, Ryan, Brianna, Ian & Elizabeth. Great grandchildren Josh, Leah, Logan & Bryce.
Pre-deceased by his parents Duncan Campbell & Catherine MacEachern, sisters, Rita Dubois, Catherine Devlin, and brother Hugh.
We were all so fortunate to have Dad with us for a long time, giving him ample opportunity to provide us with clear direction and always a great example to emulate. He will be missed and remembered and talked about frequently.
