One of my favorite and first teachers in kindergarden at dorval gardens school  in the 60s,  her wisdom and love for children shined and reflected in every child   every day , i was saddened to find this obituary and knowing that i was in cornwall often thru the years taking care of my own mother and sure would have gone to visit with her.  Our thoughts to the family .       

Mrs. Garrow  was my grade one teacher in 1963. We had a field trip to Macdonald College the day John Kennedy was assassinated . I remember her  crying briefly but was very stoic and told us all to go straight home and listen to our parents. The following Monday she held an all day class party to help us get over the events in Dallas; we were 6 years old but she cared!

I came across this sad news only today. (Feb 2 2015). I am 65 years of age. Mrs. was the one teacher I vividly remember for her positive and encouraging approach to education. I have never forgotten her and I never will.  Rest in peace Mrs Garrow.

Mrs Garrow was my grade 1 teacher when I came to Canada in 1961 without knowing a word of English. She was wonderful and I have always been grateful for her kindness and understanding . She is remembered fondly  by many of us Dorval Gardens School students.

Mrs. Garrow was a great neighbour in Dorval and good friend of my parents, Kit & Tony Chiesa. I remember always playing with her many dogs over the years of living 2 doors down. May she rest in peace.

Mrs.  Garrow was my first grade teacher at Dorval Gardens in 1961.  You never forget those teachers who had an impact, and she taught me to read over fifty years ago.  She gave me such a gift, and I shall never forget her.

The world has lost a kind gentle soul with Joy's passing. She will be missed by many, both two and four legged. Rest in peace Joy, we'll see you when we get there.

They say a good teacher is the foundation for all good things in life, Joy was one of those special people. When I entered the dog world I was fortunate to take a class with Joy, and thanks to her advice and friendship I met wonderful people and even managed to train a few dogs along the way. Although goldens are my first breed, after meeting Joy's and Willie's Teddy I fell in love with cockers too. Thank you Joy for teaching me how to groom, your talents were unsurpassed. Joy was one of my first instructors when I tentatively dipped my toe into the world of dog sports and thank goodness for that!  It is probably a testament to her support, generosity, encouragement and ability to teach that I am still in it decades later.  We moved in and out of each others lives over the years but our shared love of dogs was always a constant.  It is upsetting to know we shan't have those chats ringside anymore, I don't think it has really sunk in yet.  I'm sure I said it sometimes over the years but sometimes is never often enough---Thank You Joy for welcoming me into the dog world with grace and humour and, of course, joy.  You will be missed by many and forever be a part of your students, both human and canine.  Aileen

You were truly a 'Joy' to be with. Kind and thoughtful, always sharing a gentle smile and welcome hand to others. Sadly, you left us so young. Peace be with you forever!

My heart goes out too the family and friends. Joy was a wonderful person and always smiling with a positive attitude. All of her doggie friends will miss her and always will think of the fun times we had her and Willie. 

She will be surely missed but never forgotten.
