The family of Maria MacKay is saddened to announce her passing on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at the age of 93 following a brief illness.
Beloved wife of the late Kenneth Hamilton MacKay (1998). Dear mother of Carol Scott and her husband Grant of Cornwall and Sharon Newton and her husband Robert of Almonte. Loved ‘Grandma’ of Kristen Gill (Ajay) of Toronto and Robin Scott of Ottawa. Dear sister of Achiel Fierens of Belgium. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Maria was predeceased by her parents Franciscus and Bertha (Fierens) Truyts, and brothers, Emiel, Franz, Jozef and William (in infancy).
Heartfelt thanks to Irena and Gisèle for their exceptional care and compassion.
A private family funeral was held in the chapel of the M. John Sullivan Funeral Home, 341 Pitt Street, Cornwall on Friday, March 21, 2014. Pastor John Scorgie of the Fellowship Baptist Church officiated.
Committal will be at the North Branch Cemetery in Martintown at a later date. If so desired, memorial donations to the Canadian Blind Mission (www.cbmcanada.org) would be appreciated.
