Marie led a rich and meaningful life. She came from a large Mohawk speaking family from the West End of Kawehnoke. She learned from an early age the importance of hard work, dedication and helping family members in their time of need. Large family garden plots needed tender care to produce enough food to help them create the large family meals daily.
Marie worked at the “Lacrosse Factory” on Cornwall Island where many family members also worked in all stages of traditional lacrosse making from the wood harvesting, forming and bending to the final products after stringing with leather. She often worked alongside her mom and sisters to complete a dozen a day. She had several family members who were recognized in the “Akwesasne Lacrosse Hall of Fame”.
Marie was a seamstress who worked at Levi’s and Courtaulds until she decided to become her own boss. She travelled locally to ball games and events to cut and cook the tastiest French fries in and around Cornwall Island. She later built and ran “Marie’s West Side Fries” from her neighbourhood overlooking the St. Lawrence river where she mastered the Poutine.
She maintained a small “penny” store out of her kitchen and catered to all the young neighbourhood children and parents alike. She always had the latest and greatest treats, drinks and snacks. She watched the children grow, generation after generation, as they came into her business and enjoyed all their company.
Marie always had a love for animals. She had a friend from the nearby forest become a daily visitor. She spoke to him in Kanienʼkéha and fed him by hand. He was a raccoon who understood the Mohawk language.
Marie was the beloved wife of the late Angus Beauvais and loving mother of Christopher Delormier (Rachel). Cherished grandmother of Bronson and Sierra and bonus grandmother to Sherri, George, Tommy and Darlene whom she loved dearly. Proud great-grandmother of Nataya. Treasured sister of Theresa (late Harold). Adored aunt of Julia, Emma and Nadine. Marie leaves behind her beloved orange cat “Oh tsi ne kwa Pumpkin Delormier”. Sadly missed and fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Predeceased by her parents Abraham “Aplum” and Catherine “Kateri” Delormier, her brothers George, Walter, David, Albert (late Evelyn), Joe and Matthew as well as her sisters Annie (Pat Day), Hattie, Nancy, Shirley, and Margaret.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Akwesasne Animal Society would be greatly appreciated by the family.
She loved shopping, wrestling and a good game of Chance; Rumoli, Ace to King, Bingo, Poker or Yahtzee were also her favourites. She always had a change purse of coins ready so she could join a quick game and win some money for the next game. The evening before she passed, Marie participated in a game of Yahtzee; she didn’t win but…
she won in life,
she won in memories,
she won in love.
