It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Nina Doris Guay (née Walsh) on Wednesday July 9, 2025, at Sandfield Place Long Term Care Home in Cornwall, ON just shy of her 84th birthday.
Beloved wife of the late Joseph Claude Guay. Loving mother of Debbie Guay (Jean). Cherished grandmother of: Nathaniel Lafrance (Alyssa), Prestyn Lafrance, and Emily Lafrance (Dylan); and great grandmother of Lily Lafrance and Sophie Lafrance. Treasured sister of Muriel Arsenault (late Eric) and sister-in-law of Claudette Schaefer (Marc) and Lionel Guay (Donna).
She will be dearly missed by her nieces and nephews: Jason Schaefer (Pascal), Gaetan Schaefer, Corrine Guay, Tamara Guay, Zonya Matinson, Susan Pines (Jason), Wayne Arsenault, Darrell Walsh (Joanna), Darlene Mendes (Rob), and Earl Walsh (Donna).
Nina is predeceased by her parents George Clarence and Hermina Ida Walsh; her brothers Richard Walsh (Brenda) and John Walsh (late Ruby); her sister-in-law Theresa Groulx (late Donald) and her nephew Mike Groulx.
The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the amazing staff at Sandfield Place LTC for the exceptional care Nina received during her time there. You all held a special place in Nina’s heart.
In keeping with Nina’s wishes cremation has taken place.
Family will be in attendance at Lahaie and Sullivan West Branch 20 Seventh Street W, Cornwall on Friday July 25, 2025 between the hours of 9:00AM to 10:30AM prior to a Funeral Mass that will be held at St. Peter’s Parish 2900 Second Street E, Cornwall, ON at 11:00AM.
As expressions of sympathy, Memorial Donations to Alzheimer’s Society of Cornwall and District would be appreciated by the family.
