Roger Giroux

GIROUX, Roger – Passed away peacefully at home with family by his side, on Friday October 18, 2024 at the age of 81 years. Loving husband of Brenda Giroux (née Allan). Dear father of Tammy Marcil (Mike) and Todd Giroux (Élise Boudrias). Cherished grandfather (Poppa) of Matthew Marcil, Jennifer Villeneuve (Derrick) and Kyle Giroux and great-grandfather of Deklen, Ryder and Layla. Roger was the eldest brother of 13 siblings: he is survived by his sisters Alice Beaudette (Romeo Denis), Margaret Laframboise (Leon) and Elaine Solomon (Peter) and by brothers, Raymond (Diane), Gerald (Nicole), Robert (Linda), Gilbert (Denise) and Marc (Lucie). Predeceased by his parents, Hector and Blanche (née Levac) Giroux, by his sister Irene Lacelle (late Renald), by brother Michael, and by infant sisters Mary and Bernadette. Roger will be certainly missed by all who knew him. Roger will be remembered for many things: his love for family and friends; his sense of humor and sensitive side; his ability to make friends wherever he went; his love of T-Bird rides with Brenda; his 31 years spent at his cottage in the Laurentian mountains; his love of puttering in his yard with his Kubota tractor, finding project after project these last few years; his ability to ‘fix’ anything; his time spent in cold arenas following his family’s sporting activities; the times he played his guitar singing song after song, and teaching interested family members to play; his love of morning coffee on the front porch with Brenda. Funeral services are under the care and direction of Lahaie & Sullivan Cornwall Funeral Homes, West Branch, 20 Seventh Street West (613-932-8482). A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday November 01, 2024 at 11 a.m. in St. Finnan’s Basilica, 72 St. Paul Street, Alexandria, ON. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Carefor Hospice Cornwall would be appreciated by the family.
