It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Shirley Lorraine (McEwan) Rombough at St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Center on Tuesday October 25th at the age of 90.
Beloved wife of the late Billie Rombough and loving mother of Wendy Heagle (Bob), Sandra Liscomb (Bob) and Fay Rombough (Dan).
Cherished grandmother of Jeremy Heagle, Brett Liscomb (Caitlin), Stephanie Morin (Jamie).
Special great-grandmother of Tate and Cole Heagle, Millie and Bram Morin, Olivia and Jack Liscomb.
Shirley leaves behind her sister Maxine Rutley and brother Darwin McEwan (Eileen).
Predeceased by her parents Roy and Laura (Moke) McEwan, brother Douglas, sisters Betty Zeran and Florence Merkley.
Born in Northfield and raised in Lunenburg, Shirley graduated and worked as a stenographer at Howard Smith. Following her marriage, she and Billie returned to Lunenburg where she became a homemaker and raised her girls.
In their later years, they moved to Long Sault to be closer to family. Shirley lived her last years at St. Joseph’s, where she will be remembered by her tablemates and staff for her warm smile, lively conversations and her love of music and sweets. On November 15th, Shirley will be reunited with Billie for their 70th wedding anniversary.
Honouring her wishes, there will be no visitation. A private graveside service will take place at Memorial Hill Cemetery, Lunenburg at a later date.
