Arline was born on June 25, 1926 in Los Angeles, California and passed away peacefully at her home in Monarch Beach, CA. on July 12, 2025.Arline was a wonderful, smart, and loving woman with a mind of her own.
It was during the Depression, and her mother was a busy woman working and trying to make a living for herself and her daughter. Arline didn’t care much for the woman left to watch her, so, at 6 years old, Arline packed up her doll buggy and headed down the street to a very kind woman, Mrs. Anderson, who took her in. Arline saw her mother often but actually lived with Mrs. Anderson until the age of 16. She grew up on Bellevue Ave. in Los Angeles playing near the steps by Our Lady Queen of Angels Hospital where later her beloved husband would be accepted for his Internship. Arline attended Virgil Junior High School and then Belmont High School in Los Angeles. She was Vice President of the Student Body and received an award from the Ephebian Society. Arline graduated from high school in 1944 and entered UCLA a week later. It was on the steps of the UCLA campus by Royce Hall that she met the love of her life, Martin E Hansen (AKA Pete). She graduated UCLA with a degree in Education and a minor in Latin in 1948. Arline married “Pete” on November 21, 1945. She moved to Washington D.C. where she lived from June 1946 to June 1951. During this time Arline continued her studies at George Washington University.
Pete was in Medical School so Arline stopped her studies and went to work for Dr. Dowling at Gallinger Municipal Hospital researching the effects of Penicillin in the treatment of Subacute Bacterial Endocarditis on a grant provided by Lederle Laboratories.
In 1950, Arline and Pete had their first son, Christopher Martin Hansen who was born September 28 in Washington D. C. Arline and Pete then moved back to California, and on September 11, 1954, she gave birth to Adrienne Lee Hansen in Los Angeles. Then on April 20, 1960, their daughter Lynn Ann Hansen was born in Glendale. Arline was a dedicated Homemaker and Mother. In 1967, She and the family moved to Orange County where the family has lived ever since.
In 1979 Arline and Pete moved to Dana Point. They spent their time between their Dana Point home and a second home in Glenbrook, Nevada. Arline & Pete loved to travel, boat, and RV both together and with their family and friends. They travelled to Portugal, Spain, Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, Cook Islands, Australia, Scotland, Costa Rica, Panama, and many places in the United States. In 2014, just one month after their 69th wedding anniversary, Pete, her loving husband passed away. Arline continued to carry on the family traditions which included many parties and celebrations in her warm and welcoming home. She was a very special person who loved her family and friends. The words: Sweet, Beautiful, Classy, Positive, Supportive, Elegant, Graceful, Loving, and Kind were often used to describe her. Arline is survived by her two daughters: Adrienne Turner and Lynn Barendt; two sons-in-law: Rob Turner and Ron Barendt; two grandsons: Eric Turner and his wife, Anh, and Sean Turner and his wife, Mattie; and four great-grandchildren: Mila and Ole Turner and Wyatt and Wesley Turner. Arline is also survived by extended family members Brianne, Melany, Pella, Timberlend, Perrin, Remie and Freya. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Martin E. Hansen, M.D., son, Christopher M. Hansen, and her grand-daughter, Michelle C. Hansen.
Arline was a very special person who was the biological mother of three, but many more called her “Mom”! She was special in so many ways and will be missed by all. Rest In Peace!
A Celebration of Life will be held at the family's home in Dana Point, California, following the service.
