Born on March 25, 1937 in Kyungi Province, Korea, Dr. Benjamin Rhee was the beloved son of Kai Soon and Seung Yong. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and respected member of the medical community.
He married Dr. Wha Ja Choi on February 5, 1966, and together they built a life full of love and achievement. They were blessed with two children, Edward and Richard, and six grandchildren: Brandon, Colin, Jason, Chloe, Kendall and Christian, who were the lights of his life.
Dr. Rhee graduated from Korea University Medical School before immigrating to the United States in August 1964. He became a U.S. citizen in 1976. After years of hard work and dedication, he completed his residency in Internal Medicine in New York before joining his wife, a pediatrician, in their private medical practice in 1974. The two worked side by side in their practice until his retirement in 2006. He moved to Irvine in August 2011.
Outside of his medical career, Dr. Rhee had a love for music, often enjoying karaoke, and was an avid reader and writer. He was especially proud of authoring a 300-page book documenting the genealogy of the Rhee family that traced back seventeen generations.
Dr. Rhee is survived by his loving wife, children, and grandchildren, all of whom will cherish his memory and the lessons he shared throughout his life.
