Daniel “Dan”, “Jake” Delos Jacobson of Newport Beach, California passed away, on 10/31/2019 at the age of 65.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Wilma Jacobson of Canby, Minnesota. He will be greatly missed by his siblings Randall (Carol) Jacobson, Cynthia Clark, Wendy (David) Hullinger, and Julie (Chuck) Schmidt, as well as his nieces and nephews; Ryan Jacobson, Sarah Clark Villarreal, Christopher Clark, Thomas Jacobson, Amanda Jacobson Hoseck and Abigail Hullinger. He will also be greatly missed by his cousins, extended family members and close friends.
Daniel was born on January 28th, 1954 in Blue Earth, Minnesota. He was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church, Blue Earth, MN. He moved with his family to Canby, Mn at the age of 7. He graduated from Canby High School in 1978. Dan greatly valued education and attended the University of Oregon for his BA, followed by The University of Wisconsin where he earned two Master’s degree in City Planning Mgmt. and MBA.
Throughout his career, Dan worked for large consulting firms throughout the Midwest and California. He took great pride in his work, integrity and success. He eventually co-founded and served as the Chief Technology Officer for the ActSeed Corporation. He sold the company and retired two years before his death
Dan had a love for travel and adventure. Over the years he traveled around the world. One of his most interesting trips was to Sydney, Australia to be the first to “ring” in the new millennium. He was interested in genealogy and took a special interest in Norway and Denmark heritage. He loved camping and especially in the National Parks. He had a love for music and concerts. He also was a huge baseball fan. His original love was for the Minnesota Twins and his hero Harmon Killebrew. He really loved watching baseball in any stadium.
After his retirement, he was an active volunteer for various charities, continued boating, biking, and loved catching up with his friends and the fellow members of the American Legion Yacht Club. He was a man with a lot of energy and motivation to do and see as much as he could. He certainly achieved so much in his 65 years.
A Memorial Service will be held November 15, 2019 at 11:00am at the American Legion Yacht Club in Newport Beach, California. There will be a private burial at sea later that day.
