

Born on September 10, 1952 in Boston, Massachusetts, Don grew up in Arkansas. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and his Juris Doctor from Boston College Law School. He was a lawyer with the U. S. Attorney’s Office in Washington, D.C. for several years. In private practice he advised on business issues, banking regulations, and estate planning. He was admitted to practice before the Bars of California, the District of Columbia, Arkansas, the U. S. Supreme Court and several federal courts. One highlight of his time in D.C. was being invited to join a group of high-level dignitaries to visit China when China first opened its doors to the United States. Besides being a highly regarded attorney, he also was an esteemed Certified Financial Planner, having received the professional designation from the College for Financial Planning in Denver, Colorado, and provided financial planning advice over 30 years to self employed professionals, business owners, and corporate executives and managers. Don also had served as both Chairman and President of the Board of Directors for the Orange County Society of the Institute of Certified Financial Planners. In addition to his professional activities, Don was an active volunteer with various community organizations, including the American Heart Association, of which he had served as Chairman of the Board of the Orange County Chapter, Chair of the Planned Giving Committee for the California Affiliate, and member of the Investment Policy Subcommittee for the California Affiliate. Don also enjoyed traveling around the world with his family.
Don is survived by his wife Jue Ann Wah, son Brent, mother Joan Woo Chou of Memphis, brothers William and Danny, both of Memphis, sister Wendy Hong of Boston, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation is on Thursday, June 30, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and funeral services on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at 10 a.m., both at the Pacific View Memorial Park, 3500 Pacific View Drive, Corona Del Mar, California (949- 644-2700).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Joseph Hospital Foundation in Orange, California, the American Cancer Society, and the American Heart Association.
