DONALD E LANDIS Sr – 7/12/1932 to 3/18/2025

*** Absent from the Body, Present with the Lord, With Us in Spirit ***

“Donald Earl Landis Sr”, age 92 of San Diego, California, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2025. Don Sr was born on July 12th 1932 to Wilbur Landis and Lois LeVeque in Detroit, Michigan. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Barbara Penenberg, and beloved wife Roseann Wood Landis. Don Sr is survived by four children Claudia A Landis, Karla M Landis Nolan, Donald E Landis Jr, and Crane S Landis. He was also a loving “Grand Daddy” of five grandchildren, and caring “Uncle Don” for several nieces, nephews and their children. Celebration of Life memorial services were held with military honors on his birthday July 12th 2025, joining with his wife Roseann in eternal love. Throughout their lives, they each held unwavering love of family, and are dearly missed while continuing to be felt by us in spirit.

Don Sr graduated from the University of Michigan in Engineering, where he met his future wife, Roseann. He served as a Naval Officer in Michigan during the Korean War, and went on to earn his MBA degree with a career as an executive in aerospace engineering later in California, where he became President of both the Los Angeles and Orange County Productivity Associations. With his leadership skills, he also was President of a homeowner’s association, and successfully led a lawsuit to protect its land. Together Don and Roseann read newspapers every single day, such as the LA times, Detroit Free Press, and Time magazine. They continued to be Tigers baseball fans (maybe the Dodgers too), and went camping to national/state parks all across the country with a station wagon hauling a trailer and 4 kids. Don Sr even had a small sailboat, loved photography, computers, conversation, and painting. He was always a very interesting person, and interested in everyone as well.

ROSEANN LANDIS - 1/27/1932 to 8/14/2020

*** Absent from the Body, Present with the Lord, With Us in Spirit ***

“Roseann Wood Landis”, age 88 of San Clemente, California, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2020. Roseann was born on January 27th 1932 to Doris R Wood and William A Wood, and predeceased by her parents and oldest adored brother William A Wood Jr. When she passed, Roseann was survived by her beloved husband Donald E Landis Sr, two other dedicated brothers Louis K Wood and David J Wood Sr, and four children Claudia A Landis, Karla M Landis Nolan, Donald E Landis Jr, and Crane S Landis. Roseann was also a loving Grandparent “Nana” of five grandchildren, and caring “Auntie Roseann” for several nieces and nephews and their children. Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God, and will be dearly missed while felt in spirit. Roseann was cremated on 8/27/2020 during the first year of the pandemic, on the same day of the month as her birthdate being brought into the world. Celebration of Life memorial services were held July 12th 2025, joining with her husband in eternal love.

Roseann graduated from the University of Michigan and was an elementary school teacher, devoted wife, and dedicated mother. Many years later she achieved a Masters Degree from Cal State to become a private practice MFCC (Marriage, Family, Child, Counselor). Additionally, she was also a docent at the Laguna Art Museum in Laguna Beach, as she loved and supported all aspects of the Arts. When living in Michigan, she worked as an apprentice to renown fiber artist Robert Kidd and became a talented artist in her own right. As both a weaver and an accomplished painter as well, Roseann created beautifully woven pillows, wall pieces, and exceptional paintings. Roseann was truly a shining light to the world.
