

On May 27, 2025, Dr. Yan Leung, M.D., passed away peacefully at home in Irvine, California. He was 79 years old. Dr. Leung was born on January 12, 1946, in Canton, China, to Yan Ming and Chung Fung Lee Leung.
In 1968, Dr. Leung graduated from the College of Medicine at National Taiwan University. For nearly 60 years, he cared for his patients at his private practice in Irvine, specializing in endocrinology with a focus on diabetes and metabolism. He was also affiliated with Hoag Hospital and the University of California, Irvine (UCI) Medical Center.
Dr. Leung was widely respected by his patients, colleagues, and students alike for his compassion and dedication. He loved to teach and took great joy in sharing his knowledge. Even after retiring last year, Dr. Leung continued to mentor residents at UCI Medical Center as a Clinical Professor of Endocrinology, passing on his wisdom to the next generation of physicians.
Dr. Leung is lovingly remembered by his wife Chien Sui; his daughters Rebecca (Jørgen) and Olivia (Mark); and his grandchildren Megan, Ian, and Freya. His greatest joy came from the time he spent with family and friends. He was also a devoted Angels and Clippers fan, an avid movie enthusiast, a master of poker and Mahjong, a music aficionado, a gifted poet, and a Scrabble extraordinaire.
A visitation, followed by a private burial, will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Pacific View Memorial Park, 3500 Pacific View Drive, Corona Del Mar, CA 92625. In lieu of flowers, his family kindly requests that donations be made in Dr. Leung’s name to the Hoag Hospital Foundation, Fudge Family Acute Rehabilitation Center, link attached below.
