Time flies and I cannot believe that I haven’t spoken to you in three years! However, I do pray for you every night and you are always part of my wonderful memories. I also love the way you used to say my name when we spoke on the phone. I miss hearing your voice, your laughter, and asking me to make you pasta! Wish I could make it for you now.  
I hope you are jamming up there in heaven with my sons Eric and Brian and your dad and Dennis are telling funny stories. Maybe my mom is making dinner for all of you! I know you loved her cooking too. I really do miss you so much, Gene  you will always be in my heart , my dearest cousin!

I rescued 2 parakeets this year, and remember you had parakeets.  You told me you'd take them from AZ. to CA. You showed them to me at your Mom's. You were right. They make ideal pets. Thinking of you with your family in heaven. Watching over Nicholas, Dona, Kim, and all the families.

Well brother I just got back from bringing you some beautiful fall flowers. I cannot believe it has been 3 years already. I was thinking today how much I miss your phone calls and how you used to say my name...it makes me smile and laugh at the same time. I know you are with Mom and Dad and Dianne  and it gives me some comfort to know you are all together in Heaven.  I miss and love you so much! I want to tell you how wonderful Nick is doing and that  he is doing such a fabulous job keeping the house beautiful! You would be very proud!

I can't believe it has been a year already.  You are on my mind everyday. I miss our phone calls and you teasing me. I miss your energy and zest for adventure. I know that you lived the life you wanted to, but it was way to short, there was still so much to do and enjoy. I know that you are with Mom, Dad, and Dianne. Somehow that brings me a little comfort. I miss my family tremendously.  Today is especially hard as I was with you when God called you home. Today I will visit you at your resting place along side Dianne. I hope you guys will know I am there. I love you!

Although I only had the pleasure of seeing Gene a few times in my life, each of those times created lasting memories and brought on an abundance of laughter.  It’s very easy to show who you are as a person, but Gene immediately seemed like one of those very few who made it easy to see his soul.  I enjoyed my time with him in California and when he visited us here in New York.  On one of the days he visited, he wanted to see Manhattan and explore all that had changed since the last time he was here.  I told him to take the train with me on my way to work.  I gave him a long list of things to do & places to see.  As we approached the tunnel into the city, he was blown away by the skyline.  I was so happy over his excitement, as I am an architect and have a very strong love for New York.  I immediately decided that I had to skip work and go along with Gene.  I consider myself extremely fortunate to have spent that entire day with him.  He was so impressed and thanked me several times for the adventure we had.  I think of him every single time I walk the Highline, or when I see the now completed towers that were being built during that walk.  I learned so much about him that visit, and can absolutely understand why he was so loved.  Those few times I got to see him, he made me feel like I knew him all along.  I will miss Gene and will remember him always.  Love and condolences to all that had the honor to know Gene.

Gene: We go back to when we were ten-year-olds in our Saturday morning Catechism class at Saint Catherine Laboure in Torrance, during  the John F. Kennedy era. 
   
As the kids in class weren't allowed to interact, I didn't get to know you -  after we eventually  stopped attending the classes, you were gone.

   Five years later I'm in tenth grade at North High and here you were again, I see your dad dropping you off in the morning in front of school on 182nd street; next thing I know you are enrolled in a couple of my classes. 

    I use to carry around in class photos from custom car shows I had attended, you noticed the pics and complimented them. I asked if you would like to come by the house, I had lots more cool photos and stuff to check out.

   You were happy to come over and look at some more car pics - it turned out that one of the hot cars I had pictured belonged to your cousin;  not only that but your cousin's family home 
was right up the street from us near Artesia and Prairie; not only that but two of the family members use to hang with one of my older brothers.

   So just like that, it was a done deal that continued for fifty five years - I had an amazing new person bringing me into his life (and there would be some amazing times).

Gene, in you I never had and will never have a more supportive friend.

One of my favorite memories of you was the time you drove me and mom up to Arroyo Grande in your truck. I remember I wanted to buy a motorcycle from this guy, but had no way to get it home. You selflessly volunteered to drive us up.  You showed up early the next day with a trailer attached and said you guys ready? I will never forget that day. I will always remember the stories we shared along the way.  I still have that bike!
You were always there for family and I will never forget! May you Rest In Peace.

My first memory of Geno, as I called him was at Nick and Edie’s home for a Sunday dinner…he loved his mother’s cooking!
Our first trip back in 1979 was a road-trip to Mammoth skiing. Gene, Dianne, George,Dona Bruce, Kim and I. We had over 12 feet of snow our first night and had to dig our way out of our cabin. 
Gene was a terrific skier. We had a memorable snowmobile ride, as I was driving fast through a meadow with Gene on the back. I hit a bump and Gene was tumbling through the snow..  Fun trip!!
I was able to visit with Geno a couple times these past few months, and am so happy we spent some time together.. So brave!
Rest well brother!! Until we meet again!

Whenever Gene and I were together it was the best of times. He was most entertaining. 
My wife Kathy and I were fortunate to visit him in February to celebrate his upcoming  70th birthday. We did some site seeing to Mt. Lemon, Organ Pipe Cactus Nat. Monument (with Nicolas) & the Titan Missile  Museum. 
I learned a lot about Gene on this visit. The interesting hobbies, vocations, & the various states he lived. Obviously, Gene led an interesting life. Lucky him!
Gene was born in Brooklyn, left there too soon. Though Brooklyn’s loss was California’s gain. Now Gene has left us all too soon!
My sympathies to anyone lucky enough to have spent time with Gene.

I haven't seen you in ages, but I have good memories. Like years ago during one of my southern California visits when I reached out to you and your sweet sister Diane. I got us all together and we went out to Magic Mountain and became kids-pals all over again. A great time re-connecting with my cousins. I'm really looking forward to re-connect again in our next lives.....

What was really amazing to me about my cousin Gene was that he was a great surfer! It was so amazing to me that he could physically do that being that I could barely walk half the time .

His love of birds throughout his life was evident when he showed me his budgies a few years ago.

I will always miss the visits you made and those early mornings you would pop in for a cup of coffee. I remember the laughs we would  share when we reminisced about working together at Northrop and the times we would pass each other on the freeway as we headed to and from work.  I'm smiling right now as I think of it. You have been my brother-in-law and family for many years and my heart is heavy, thinking I wished we had more time together in our retirement years.
