Eugenia Catherine Hubbard; wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away July 20, 2022. Eugenia was a long-time resident of Costa Mesa, CA with her husband, Harry Hubbard. More recently, she lived in Laguna Hills, CA. She is survived by 5 daughters: Naoma Stow (Bill); Sally Eccles (Dave); Cathy Graham (John); Alice Vander Martin (Wes) and Nancy Nappi (Dan). She is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 42 great grandchildren, with one on the way.
Eugenia was born on November 24, 1924, in Homer, LA, to Leo and Naomi Evans. Her parents and her sister, Selina, welcomed and loved the little baby.
She was spirited and adventurous throughout her life. She was brought home weighing only 4 pounds, fitting into the palm of her father’s hand. Her initial struggles propelled her through the first 25 years of her life. She lost her mother at age 3 and moved about with different grandparents. She lost her first husband, Buford Bowen in WWII, 3 days before giving birth to their daughter, Naoma.
Eugenia and Harry met, and eventually married on June 23, 1951 in San Diego, CA. They resided in Lakewood, CA and Anaheim, CA before settling in Costa Mesa, CA. Eugenia worked at ITT-Jabsco as a bookkeeper for many years. She also worked in Harry’s CPA office. She was a good student, good employee and a great mother and wife. She had amazing homemaking skills, and the energy to do it all!
Eugenia had a unique and special relationship with God and taught her daughters to honor life with honesty and to always think of others. She will be missed by her survivors on Earth and welcomed and cherished by family and friends in the Life to come.
