

Gerald (Jerry) James Hansen, 92, of Laguna Niguel, CA went to be with his Lord on May 10, 2022. Jerry was born in Rockville, NE on the cusp of the Great Depression, November 16, 1929, to James Arnold and Viola Ruth (Kruse) Hansen. The family moved to Hawthorne, CA in 1941. In 1947, Jerry graduated Salutatorian from Leuzinger High School in Hawthorne. During the Korean War, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. While serving in the Air Force as NCOIC, Ground Radio Depot Maintenance, he met and married the love of his life, Lois Ann Bramer. They were married on June 26, 1952. Following his enlistment in the Air Force, he attended the University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA) and graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1957 with a B.S. in Electrical-Mechanical Engineering. At UCLA he worked as a research assistant with North American Aviation, which launched a long and distinguished career in Air and Space Systems. He was a founder of Logicon, Inc. and worked on space and satellite systems for the United States military and the country of Japan. His work in data systems and control spanned from ballistic missile guidance to Global Positioning Satellites and finally the Space Shuttle. He served as Director, Manager, and Vice President at various companies.
At the age of 40, he fulfilled a lifelong dream to pilot an airplane and enjoyed traveling with his family in their Cessna 171 and then their Cessna 210. He enjoyed driving his Porsche Speedster and going to Dodger Baseball games with his wife and children. He was a dedicated member of Laguna Niguel Presbyterian Church, where he served as a Deacon. He was proud of his daughter Lisa who served as a Chaplain in the USAF and reached the rank of Colonel; and his son Rick, who served as a pilot in the Air Force and works as an American Airlines Captain. He cherished his grandchildren and enjoyed showing them the highlights of Southern California with trips to the beach and Disneyland. He is survived by his wife, Lois; daughter Lisa, son Richard (Rick) and daughter-in-law Darci; grandchildren Cassidy, McKenzie, Jon, and Liam. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Viola, and sister Adorae Jean Lester.
