Jack Stein of Huntington Beach died peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on July 7. He is survived by Bernice, his wife of 58 years, daughters Gayle Larson (Bill) and Diana Bristow (Scott), and granddaughter Jessica Bristow.
A die-hard Cubs fan, he was born in Chicago on July 27, 1924. He worked as a cab driver and apartment manager in Chicago. After moving to California in 1973, he opened one of the first video rental stores in Orange County. He was a founding member of the Pacific Community of Cultural Jews and a lodge member of B'nai B'rith. He was a vibrant, kind and gentle man who loved his family, traveling, eating, fishing, puzzles and his cats. His daughers were his pride and joy. He touched countless lives volunteering his time at Hoag Hospital and the Huntington Beach RSVP. He voraciously read all kinds of books, had a remarkable intellect and a keen sense of humor. He was a devoted husband, loving father and outstanding human being. The world is diminished by his loss, but will always be a better place thanks to his presence here with us.
In lieu of Flowers, donations can be made to the Hoag Hospital Foundation Heart and Vascular Institute at www.hoaghospitalfoudation.org.
