Jacob was honorably discharged after completing four years of service in the Marine Corps as a Corporal E4 this past September 2022. He is remembered fondly as a big brother to the younger Marines, the rock for many, and for showing nothing but love and positivity in everything he did. During his time in the Marines, Jacob was the recipient of the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, and two Expert Rifle Qualification Badges. Jacob spent his most recent days split between working at O’Malley’s on Main and pursuing his Bachelor of Business degree at Coastline College, with dreams of becoming an online gaming broadcaster.
Prior to enlisting in the Marines, Jacob graduated from San Juan Hills High School where he excelled at football and lacrosse and is remembered by his teachers as an amazing person that showed kindness, optimism, and genuine care for others.
Jacob is survived by his loving parents Marie and Robert, two sisters Emma and Isabella, Grandmother Wynn, Grandfather Tom, girlfriend Allexis, and countless aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Jacob was a bright light with an infectious smile and a laugh to match. His favorite catchphrase, “Here for a good time, not for a long time” shined through in how he lived every moment to the fullest. Jacob’s family will hold a memorial service followed by military honors on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Pacific View Mortuary & Memorial Park, 3500 Pacific View Drive, Corona Del Mar, California 92625. Following the service, there will be a celebration of life reception at the Cruz residence in Huntington Beach, CA.
