

James Hammond Joubert, age 69, of Yorba Linda, California, passed away on November 3, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was born to James and Betty Joubert on July 29, 1954, in Alameda, California. Known as Jim to most and fondly as Jimmy in his youth, he was a brilliant businessman, a talented musician, a devoted family man, and a humble servant of God.
After graduating from Marina High School in Huntington Beach, he married his sweetheart, Sylvia Stainbrook, on June 21, 1975. Together, they founded Pacific Southwest Instruments in 1982, a company that revolutionized aviation support through industry-leading customer service and technical expertise. Jim's bold brilliance and visionary spirit are the driving forces behind the success of PSI. His influential impact and determination lives on through his PSI family.
Jim is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sylvia; his daughters Diana (Bryan) Aksel, Louise (Timothy) Hernandez, and Sarah (James) Ehlers; six grandchildren, with a seventh on the way; his father, James W. Joubert; and his sister, Cheryl (Paul) Gabert; and many other close family members. He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty.
Jim's life was marked by generosity, kindness, and humility. He found great joy in spreading the word of God, supporting countless missionaries and organizations, and deeply impacting those around him through his actions and wisdom. His kind smile, wise counsel, and unyielding support for his family and friends will be profoundly missed.
Jim's legacy will be forever cherished and remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
