James Ronald Sechrist

On April 29th 2024, James Ronald Sechrist, 81, surrounded by his loved ones passed away after fighting cancer. Ron was born April 13th 1943 in Artesia, California to Cliff and Cumi Sechrist. As a young man, Ron joined the Navy and became a pilot, stationed at the U.S. Navy Base in Oahu, Hawaii. Ron loved the United States and was a proud member of the Republican party. His creative and inventive spirit helped drive the starting of Sechrist Industries in 1973. He was the leading force in medical technologies, developing (HBOT) Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy which was the footprint for creating the Hyperbaric Chamber. He has numerous patents that were done at Sechrist. Ron was a founding member of BCYC, a board member of Chapman University, and donated time and resources to many local charities. Ron was full of energy and lived life to the fullest. He was an athlete pushing himself in all sports and activities. He had an adventurous spirit with passions of both land and sea. Spending time in the boat playing card games with friends and family and traveling all over the world brought him such joy. Ron was an avid car collector, especially fast ones. Ron is survived by his wife, Helena, his 5 children: James Robert, James Richard, James Radford, James Ronald II, Jaela Reagan, sister Judy Johnson and 5 grandchildren.
