My deepest condolences to Melinda, Keri and the entire Angeles clan.  I was shocked and truly saddened to hear the news of John's passing.  I talked with him just prior, he seemingly fine, in good spirits and tinkering away as usual....I befriended John originally years ago as I walked by the house (daily/weekly) observing him wrenching away on his bird.  He was ever friendly,  so interesting to listen to,  interested in others, always engaging and supportive to any and all..so many memorable  conversations......a real community fixture.  He so loved Melinda, so proud and dedicated to his family, always with a big smile on his face, especially  when  out walking with Rosie and Banjo...and to talk about his passion, the Firebird. John, RIP...you will be sorely missed. 

I might not have the proper words to say here but Melinda, Kim and especially Keri will understand what I'm trying to say.  My heart sank when I was first told about what had happened and John's last words to me at the races the AAA Finals was, were not going to be racing anymore, this is it for me and I said, "you have the car why now", but we were getting ready to run the first round and I would talk to him later about this, which I never got the chance to.  I'm trying to think of how long I had known John and Melinda, early 80's?  But in reality I would not of expected the Lord to have taken John from us, now this is where you have to bear with me, I would have thought it would of been Melinda that would have done something to John, let me explain for the people that didn't know John's racing history and the discussions we had during the "years", John had this "mad scientist way of thinking and it was evident at the Bakersfield Divisional race one year when he strapped Keri into the car and lit the fuse and let her go, he made some changes to the car and I new what would happen but I knew Keri and especially Melinda didn't know, this car went straight up like the space shuttle and as I was already told by several racers of what happened, I see an obviously " disturbed" Melinda walking back to her pit area and I asked her,  are you ok, she replied something to the affect no, I'm going to "strangle or  something worse John" for what he did to the car and my daughter, obviously that is one story of many, to the family, I will miss seeing John at the track, but please take this the correct way, he is in the arms of the Lord and will be watching over all of you in Heaven with his racer friends, God Speed my friend, Fred Moreno and Delana, we are with you in this sad but peaceful time.

Condolences to the Angeles family on John's passing. Moving into the neighborhood 1979, so many times driving by John 's home, the garage nearly always open and john working on his race car or tinkering around outside, nearly always a simultaneous wave, an occasional conversation, always good thoughts and a smile. As I drove or walked by the Angeles home, or bike riding the neighborhood, always passing the Angeles home, John's presence like a mantle piece of the neighborhood. John will truly be missed.

My condolences to Melinda and the entire Angeles family. John was the kind of person that you immediately felt comfortable around and was so easy to have a conversation with.  He was a family man for sure. So proud of his girls and grandchildren.  A loving husband to Melinda. I can still hear so clearly his contagious laugh and see that warm smile. Even though I will miss seeing him, I will always remember him in my heart. ❤️
There are some that bring a light so great to the world that even after they are gone the light remains.

My condolences to Melinda and family, I always enjoyed seeing John at Donuts on Saturday mornings. 

We had great conversations about the cars, Dodgers and baseball in general. 

He truly enjoyed sharing about wife and daughters and loved to share the accomplishments of his grandchildren. 

John will be missed by all until we meet again.

First of all, I want to offer my sincerest condolences to the Angeles family and to John’s friends.  We lost one of the good ones.

John was a dear and very close friend of mine and I will miss him more than words can describe.  I will truly miss our time together in the garage wrenching on the 'Bird getting it ready for its next outing.  I am at a loss for the valuable advise John often shared with me in my own Pontiac builds.  This friendship will be hard to replace if at all.  It was a pleasure and an honor to call John my close friend.  I will miss you my friend.

On one of the rare outings away with the boys at Norwalk, OH at the Pontiac Nationals Aug 2019.  John hooked up with many of his Pontiac race buddies.  He had so much fun.

We spent one day in Feb 2013 at the Peterson Museum at a video shoot with the creator of the 1969 Pontiac Trans Am, Gene Winfield.  The video was a documentary of the recent discovery and restoration of one of the prototypes.  John had many stories to share, surprised??
