John Thomas Kobe passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2018 in Mission Viejo, California. He was 91 years old. John was born in Redding, California on May 13, 1927. He graduated from Shasta Union High School and earned his Masters Degree in education from Long Beach State University where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He taught for the Torrance Unified School District for 30-plus years. John taught at Arlington Elementary School, Casimir Middle School and coached lower level basketball at North Torrance High School. John is survived by his children, Kristine Kobe Peet ( Harlan Peet), Matt Kobe (Dana Kobe), and Karyn Kobe. He was a grandfather to Michael, Casey, Kathryn, Kelli, Eric, Cole and Madison and a great grandfather to Gwendolyn, Jack, Aila, Nora, Kaisa and Delen. He is preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Wellard Kobe, father John Paul Kobe, mother Anna Mary Kobe, son, Michael John Kobe and brothers Edward Kobe and Victor Kobe. Services will be held June 13, 2018 at 10:00 am, at Pacific View Memorial Park and Mortuary, 3500 Pacific View Drive, Corona Del Mar, California. 949-644-2700.
