John was born on October 5th 1940 in Oldham, England. He was just a child when the Germans bombed during World War II and remembers having to go into bomb shelters during that time. At 9 years old, his family moved to Canada by way of ship. A few years later his family moved to California where they settled in Norwalk. Out of High School he joined the Army and went to Airborne Training at the 101st Airborne in Fort Campbell Kentucky, which he loved and was so proud of. After graduating paratrooper school, he went to Los Angeles City College and was a part of the Philosophy Club and Surfing Club. He loved the beach and was happiest when he was surfing. After college he started his own business doing window coverings. He did work in Cesar Palace and the International Hotel in Las Vegas. During this time, he visited Mexico where he met his wife on a blind date. He would travel back and forth to visit until they decided to be married. They traveled all around the United States and Central America throughout their youth until they settled with their 4 children in Southern California, Orange County. Later in life he went back to school to become a Hearing Representative where he worked in Workers Compensation and he loved it. He was always wanting to get on the road again, taking drives was his favorite pass time and he would find any excuse to have ice cream along the way!
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, 4 children, 16 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.
