Ken was born in Rosedale, Kansas to Earl and Estella Marksbury. He was the fourth of nine with five sisters and three brothers. The family moved to Los Angeles in 1926 where he attended school graduating from Fremont High School in 1933.
While working in the Safeway candy factory Kenny met the girl who was to become the love of his life. He proposed to Mary Brown with the big brown eyes in October 1940 and they were married in a beautiful church ceremony on January 11, 1941. They spent their honeymoon in their newly rented small one-bedroom house where a 9 x 12 rug was wall to wall.
They welcomed their first child David in November 1942. The next year Ken received a personal greeting from FDR and was inducted into the Army. He served during WWII in New Guinea and the Philippines as a medic returning home in December 1945.
That next year saw the birth of Daniel in September. The young family then moved to their brand new house in Norwalk in 1948. One year later their family was complete then their daughter Mary was born in May.
Ken’s career as an insurance salesman with Metropolitan Life Insurance spanned 25 years of distinguished service. He was a faithful member of the Bellflower Brethren Church for over 50 years serving his Savior Jesus as a Sunday School teacher, deacon and head usher.
He was preceded in death by his sweetheart Mary in 2007 after 66 joy filled years of marriage.
Dad will be missed by his three children Dave (Claudia), Dan and Mary (Clem); and Papa/Grandpa will always live in the hearts of his 12 grandchildren and his 14 great grandchildren. He is survived by his brother Darrell (Mardy), his sister Patricia Wheeler, and sister-in-law Jean Marksbury.
