

Margaret M. Pappas was a true cowgirl of the west. She grew up in Boulder City, Nevada where she was raised by hard-working parents alongside her beloved brother Billy. Margaret’s mother Dorothy, worked for the government as an Executive Secretary and her father, “Denny” U.S. Navy, builder of the Boulder Dam (Hoover).
Margaret was beautiful and brilliant; an academic, a Majorette, and a proper young lady who inherited that McCullough toughness. Margie would go to the shooting range with an old M-1, calmly kneel down and hit a bullseye on an anti-freeze container from a considerable distance.
Margaret was a true Bruin, graduate of UCLA, with a masters degree in social work from USC. Margaret met her loving husband, William Pappas, during these years. Margaret’s passion for helping others and being of service has always been present. From her participation in the Civil Rights Movement, Selma to Montgomery March in Alabama - MLK to her life‘s dedication to protecting animals by membership to charities throughout her lifetime. Margaret enjoyed hiking, and was an avid skier. She went on to become a dedicated, compassionate, generous mother of three as well as District Chief of two Mental Health Centers in Los Angeles County.
Margaret is predeceased by her devoted husband William Pappas, U.S. Navy, Business Executive, her loving son Kerry Christopher Pappas who she adored and missed dearly, and her cat “Daniel.”
Margaret is survived by her loving daughters Erin K. Brooks and Anastasia McDermott and her beautiful grandchildren Tyler Christopher Pappas, Jack McDermott and Jayden McDermott. Margaret is also survived by her rescue kitten Serendipity, “Seren.”
