Mary passed away in her sleep on August 16, 2021. She was born in Peoria, Illinois on July 12, 1921, daughter of Harold Enoch Paine and Bess Quisenberry Paine.
Mary attended Monticello College in Illinois, and worked in a variety of administrative positions, including the FBI and the Newport Beach Library.
Mary met the love of her life in 1955, Clay Wingard while working at General Dynamics; they were married in October 1956. Their only child, Charlie, was born in September 1957. Mary and family moved to Newport Beach in 1966.
Mary was active in PEO and Boy’s Republic and enjoyed many a wonderful outing with friends.
Mary is survived by her son, Charlie (Sue) of Alamo, CA, grandchildren Rob (Liz) Wingard of Anacortes, WA and Allison (Sean) O’Brien and great-granddaughter Avery of Falls Church, VA and nieces Laurie Gorham and Lynn Kelsh. She is predeceased by her husband, Clay, her parents and sister, Joanne Kelsh.

Services at Pacific View Memorial Park in Newport Beach on Thursday, September 2nd at 11:00; private internment follows. Fully vaccinated guests only, please wear a mask as Mary’s young great-granddaughter will be there.
